Institute for Automation and Systems Engineering View mapNonlinear Model Predictive Control (NMPC) is an advanced method of process control that uses predictive models and optimization algorithms to achieve superior control performance. It combines the advantages of feedback with optimal control. NMPC is natively capable of handling multivariate control problems, constraints on inputs and states, and nonlinear system dynamics, making it a versatile and powerful control algorithm. As a result, NMPC has become popular not only in the process industry, but also in the automotive, robotics, and manufacturing and other industries.
This workshop aims to provide a foundation in the theory and application of NMPC, with special emphasis on stability analysis of NMPC, numerical implementation, and stochastic NMPC. Furthermore, the joint research and development cooperation between TU Ilmenau and AIMS Rwanda will be strengthened.
